Rick has been working with business owners, dentists, doctors, and other professionals for many years. He helps them develop and implement a personalized plan to achieve financial independence. “My mission is to provide clients with peace of mind. I do this using a proprietary method I developed called The Smart Decision Process™. The process ensures nothing is overlooked and while helping you create a dynamic model for making smart financial decisions that are based on your most important goals. A popular speaker, he has been asked to talk on “Planning for Retirement” at conferences including the FBI, University of Minnesota, and USDA.
Rick knows that most clients have concerns about two things: their financial future and selecting the right advisor. Choosing a financial advisor with ethics and integrity is a vital part of getting a sense of peace about their financial future. He says, "I have two goals for every client: I want to be the kind of financial advisor whose integrity and character would be good enough for my own mother. And I want to help each client create enough wealth so that they have the resources to live a life with no regrets–the life they have always dreamed about."
Rick is the founder and president of Epple Financial Advisors, a Comprehensive Fee-Only financial planning firm headquartered in the Lake Minnetonka Area of the Twin Cities. As a qualified professional in the areas of retirement strategies and investments, Rick has been interviewed and contributed to articles in the Washington Post, Money Magazine, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, Parent's Magazine, NAPFA Advisor, and Fortune Magazine. Rick has also contributed to the Book "Just Give Me the Answer$: Expert Advisors Address Your Most Pressing Financial Questions".
Rick is a leader in the financial planning community. He serves on the National Board for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and for a number of years was the Director of Career Development for the Minnesota Financial Planning Association.
In his leisure time, Rick loves working out and playing basketball. He stays active by coaching his children's sports teams. Rick has been married for 17 years to his wife Madalyn. They have a daughter, Bridget and son, Evan. As a family, they enjoy spending time together by volunteering for different organizations, skiing, and traveling.

Krista Winograd has over 9 years of experience in the financial planning industry. Prior to working with Epple Financial Advisors, Mrs. Winograd worked in the asset management department at Accredited Investors, Inc., one of the leading financial advisory firms in the country, nationally acclaimed for its delivery of comprehensive fee-only financial planning.
Mrs. Winograd received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and the Certificate of Financial Planning from Minnesota State University. She passed the CFP® board exam in 2006.
She is a member of the Financial Planning Association as well as the Alliance of Cambridge Advisors. Her articles and comments have been published in the Star Tribune and the Journal for Financial Planning. She has been a regular volunteer for Perspectives, a human services agency, providing basic financial management skills to women in transitional housing.
